Since the incubation period for the virus can be as long as 14 days a negative test result during that possible incubation period is no guarantee that you are not infected. If you have been in close contact with but do not live with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 follow the guidance below. You do not usually need to self-isolate if you get a negative result.
